Andrea Rotondo
Andrea M. Rotondo is a writer specializing in luxury travel with expertise in the areas of cruise vacations, African safari lodges, and romantic getaways. When it comes to exploring the planet, the more exotic the better!
Andrea has crossed the International Date Line in both directions while on board cruise ships: once traveling west from Alaska across the Bering Sea to the Aleutian Islands to Kamchatka, Russia and once traveling east from Fiji to the Cook Islands.
Her most precious travel memories include:
- photographing a pack of elusive African wild dogs in South Africa's Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve
- experiencing the phenomenon of bioluminescence at Mosquito Bay on the island of Vieques (Puerto Rico)
- trailing a pod of orcas—adults and calves—from a skiff in Frederick Sound, part of Alaska's famed Inside Passage
- lazing on Kauai's Poipu Beach with two very rare Hawaiian Monk seals
Andrea's travels are made all the more special because she makes each journey with her husband, photographer/sound recording engineer Leonard Hospidor.
BusinessWeek, USA Today, IndependentTraveler.com, Cruise Thomas Cook magazine, the BBC, CBS Radio, and other media outlets have called upon Andrea to provide expert commentary regarding the travel industry.
She’s written for Cruise Critic, Cruise Travel, CruiseMates.com, Family Vacation Critic, Modern Bride, Destination Weddings & Honeymoons, Travel Agent, American Baby, and many other magazines and websites.
Andrea is the author of several books, including the bestselling Getting Married: A Complete Guide to Planning Your Special Day. In the past, she updated Birnbaum's Official Guides to Disneyland and Walt Disney World and is currently updating Thomas Cook’s Travellers Hawaii and HotSpots Hawaii guidebooks for the European market.
She is the editor-in-chief of two travel websites: LuxuryCruiseBible.com, devoted to luxury cruise travel, and a site focusing on African adventures at LuxurySafariExperts.com. You can follow her on Twitter: @luxcruisebible and @luxsafariexpert
Andrea's "must visit" list still numbers many destinations and includes the Maldives and Seychelles in the Indian Ocean, Borneo (for orangutan sightings), Indonesia's Komodo Island, and Western Australia's Kimberley region.
